Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Northeast Pennsylvania recently announced they would invest $65,000 in three Berks County companies. Overall, the Bethlehem-based agency is investing $495,000 to support regional economic development.
Eleven enterprises in BFTP/NEP’s 21-county service area received funding. Investments identified as a continuation project indicate that the client has reached predetermined milestones and is receiving more funding to complete additional project work.
For Berks Enterprises, Ben Franklin will provide matching funding for work with a college or university partner on technology innovation in established manufacturers.
Heyco Metals Inc., Canton of Bern, will receive a $25,000 investment to implement a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system to improve supply chain and customer service, and support the growth. Heyco Metals is a precision factory that manufactures high quality, light gauge, copper, copper alloy and stainless steel products to exacting specifications for the automotive, aerospace, connector industries and consumer electronics. Heyco’s academic partner is the O’Pake Institute at Alvernia University
Joe Jurgielewicz & Son Ltd., Tilden Township, will receive an investment of $15,000 to develop a factory plan for a new facility and an overall master plan for the manufacturing site to increase capacity and optimize production. Joe Jurgielewicz & Son is a duck production company supplying restaurants, foodservice and institutions in the United States. The company is vertically integrated from breeding to delivery and employs sustainable and environmentally friendly farming practices. The company’s academic partner is the O’Pake Institute at Alvernia University.
S&W Metal Products LLC, Township of Colebrookdale, will receive a $25,000 investment to model the existing production facility to optimize process flows and enable the acquisition of new equipment. Develop a strategic facility master plan in support of the company’s long-term growth objectives. S&W Metal Products is a full-service sheet metal fabrication shop, manufacturing a wide range of recurring and custom precision engineered products. The company’s academic partner is the O’Pake Institute at Alvernia University.
